Astrology signs are very important in any astrological system. They are used to make horoscopes, prepare compatibility reports and draw up profiles. Their importance can be gauged from the fact that most of the daily, weekly and monthly forecasts are based on astrology signs
Each astrological system has its own set of astrology signs. The Chinese astrological system uses 12 astrology signs based on animals. These astrology signs are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog and the pig. Interestingly, and each one of them is given a year of its own.
Thus, in China the year of birth and the ruling animal of that year determine the astrology sign of the individual. The individual is further said to have inherited the traits of that animal. The Vietnamese zodiac is quite similar to the Chinese zodiac except that instead of the rabbit they have the cat representing the fourth month. A similar case is seen in case of the case of Japanese astrology signs. Here the pig is substituted by the wild boar.
The Indian astrology system follows the lunar calendar. Hence, all astrology signs are based on the moon, with one sign allocated to one lunar month. The lunar astrology signs are Mesha, Vrishabha, Mithun, Kataka, Singh, Kanya, Tula, Vrishchika, Dhanus, Makara, Kumbha and Meena.
The western astrology system that is followed by the US, UK and Europe uses astrology signs based on the movement of the sun. These astrology signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
All these astrology signs are depicted by an image. Thus, Aries is represented by a ram, Taurus by a bull, Gemini by twins, cancer by a crab, Leo by the lion, Virgo by a virgin, Libra by the scale, Scorpio by the scorpion, Sagittarius by an archer, Capricorn by a sea goat, Aquarius by a water bearer and the Pisces by the fish.
